Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP)

Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) is a public research institute, which belongs to the Top Ten of Polish research institutes, developing new technologies. PIAP was established in 1965 as a national institute which basic task was preparing and implementing new technologies, automation systems, production plant and specialist measuring equipment in various branches of industry. Nearly fifty years of our close cooperation with industry have brought a series of new designs and significant implementations. Thanks to continuity of PIAP research and development work, PIAP designs can easily compete with products of renowned international companies. Presently, PIAP employs 300 people, among them more than 150 scientists. At present, PIAP activities are focused in the following fields: • automation and robotization of production processes, • introduction of innovative mechatronics technologies & solutions in production processes, • automation of transport between operation stands, • quality control systems with use of video technique, • mobile robots used for special purposes, • industrial measurement systems, • specialist measuring and inspection equipment • car recycling Also important for PIAP activities are Training and Education. PIAP organizes different trainings to industry, technical schools and their students. Topics of trainings are usually directly connected with technologies for industry and recycling technologies. PIAP can be distinguished on Polish market because of: • high quality of products and services confirmed with quality system pursuant to ISO standards, • specializing in integration of large systems with components from various manufacturers, • executing especially difficult tasks requiring non-standard solutions and involvement of professionals from various areas. Furthermore, PIAP undertakes tasks which contribute to dissemination and promotion of science and technology: • Annual Science and Technology Conference AUTOMATION – Automation, Novelties and Perspectives • International Automation and Measurement Fair AUTOMATICON • Seminars entitled New theories and practice in the field of automation and measurement PIAP also publish science and technology monthly entitled PAR – Pomiary, Automatyka, Robotyka (measurements, automation, robotics) covering the issues of measurements, automation, robotics, mechatronics and quality assurance. PIAP is widely cooperating with industrial and scientific organizations from European Union. This cooperation is focused mainly on the research and development as well as scientific projects co-financed by European Commission within Framework Programs. PIAP was actively participating in 4th, 5th and 6th Framework Program as well as in Lifelong Learning (Leonardo da Vinci and Grundvig), Structural Funds and Erasmus + actions.
